Maven Consulting is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our team. The Financial Controller will be primarily responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company’s growth and success. Key Responsibilities:
Reporting and Analysis:
- Review and prepare utilization reporting.
- Oversee business unit budget/actual reporting.
- Lead finance business unit review meetings and package preparation.
- Conduct cash flow updates on a weekly basis.
- Analyze business results and prepare monthly financial reporting packages for management.
Accounting and Reconciliation:
- Review and reconcile bank accounts, fixed assets, prepaid insurance, and project expenses.
- Manage monthly reconciliations, including wage, vacation, EHT, and WCB accruals.
- Oversee year-end reconciliations for accrued liability accounts and loan reconciliations.
Payroll and Expenses:
- Manage payroll and expenses
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and expense reports.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Review and manage accounts receivable and payable adjustments.
- Oversee monthly invoice generation and AP entry.
Compliance and Filing:
- Ensure compliance with CRA GST, WCB (BC and Alberta), and EHT filing requirements.
- Manage irregular filings and ensure timely submission.
Financial Planning and Budgeting:
- Lead the annual budget creation process.
- Maintain and update financial forecasts on a quarterly basis.
- Review and approve credit card expenses.
Operations and Risk Management:
- Maintain contract logs and oversee project setup.
- Manage insurance applications and relationships, including renewals.
- Provide strategic financial guidance and risk management.
Staff Management:
- Supervise and manage the bookkeeper, ensuring accuracy and compliance in their work.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role in company of $5-$15M in revenue, ideally in the consulting sector.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Compensation:
Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate including skillset, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. The salary range for this role is from $125K to $145K per annum.
