Construction Safety Officer

LEVEL: Intermediate
SALARY RANGE: $28-$36/hr

We are looking for a Construction Safety Officer who has practical safety experience on construction sites, and most importantly aligns with our team core values (Safety, Wellbeing, Respect, Quality, Collaborate, Growth Mindset). This position is based on construction sites in various location in BC and is responsible for ensuring required safety protocols are followed on a worksite.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical, administrative and site safety support to the Construction Manager in all aspects of the site construction and safety conduct.
  • Provide site orientations to new workers/visitors to the site
  • Monitor compliance to safety procedures and policies while work is in progress, and provide feedback for improvements to site staff and the Construction Manager.
  • Collect and maintain safety documentation including completed safety forms and training records.
  • Initiate and support incident response, notification, and investigation activities.
  • Communicate safety requirements to everyone on site.

Who we are looking for:

  • Construction Safety Officer (CSO) designation
  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent would be an asset
  • Minimum 3 years of practical construction field experience, as well as practical and theoretical knowledge in various health and safety management skills and principles
  • Minimum 1 year experience working on transmission and distribution power projects
  • Excellent skills working with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral
  • Comfortable travelling and working in adverse weather conditions
