Maven is committed to ensuring all our work is done to incorporate the values of Indigenous peoples. Maven commits to meaningful consultation, building of respectful relationships and obtaining the free and prior consent of Indigenous peoples before proceeding with economic development projects. We ensure that Indigenous peoples have equitable access to jobs, training, and education opportunities and that Indigenous communities gain long-term sustainable benefits from economic development projects.
A key component of Maven’s commitment to relationship-building is centered around positive engagement with Indigenous businesses, members, and communities. At Maven we encourage all staff to take four programs related to Indigenous Awareness Training and/or Cultural Safety Training:

- First Nations University of Canada: 4 Seasons of Reconciliation
- Working Effectively with Indigenous Peoples
- The Value of Indigenous Engagement
Members of our leadership team have this training and implement the content into leadership of their teams and projects.
Key Partnerships
Maven is proud to have partnerships with First Nations and their economic development partners across BC and Northern Canada with established relationships with the First Nations Major Projects Coalition, BC-based indigenous firm C Boehringer & Associates, the Na-ChoNyäk Dun Development Corporation in the Yukon, and an ongoing partnership with SPAL General Constructors, a company wholly owned by Tsleil-Waututh First Nations, in the south coast of BC.
Our partnership with SPAL General Constructors ensures that projects are conducted in a manner that respects Indigenous sovereignty and promotes equitable economic opportunities for Indigenous peoples. By incorporating the perspective and expertise of TWN members, projects can achieve outcomes that benefit both the environment and local communities and progress our industry on its path of reconciliation.
Maven intends to continue to examine the adoption of the Truth and Reconciliation Committee’s Calls to Action as it applies to the corporate sector (Action 92) and commits to continue to learn and explore how to further commit to meaningful reconciliation with the Indigenous peoples in the regions where we live and work.
