This past June, the Maven team had the privilege of volunteering at Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon, located next to BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, through the House’s Share Program initiative — and what an afternoon it was.

Together, the team cooked over 119 meals for children and families staying at the House during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

For 40 years, Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon has served as a home away from home for families with a child receiving medical care, offering cost-free or subsidized accommodation, hot meals, and Wellness Programs like art, music, and massage therapy that bring a sense of joy and normalcy back into daily life.

None of that happens without volunteers. The House relies entirely on community teams who sign up for daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner shifts, ensuring families never have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.

If you’ve ever considered volunteering, we’d encourage you to look into what Ronald McDonald House does in your community. You don’t have to do something big to make an impact.

A big thank you to our Project Manager, Annabelle Fraser, for coordinating this opportunity, and to Trevor St Germain, Ming Wai Wong, Chenlei Zhang, Divya Garg, Henry Hsu, Tabitha Poehnell, Jolie Lam, and Amit Garg for taking part in this Share Program initiative.
